University Professor, plastic head and neck surgeon/otorhinolaryngologist, with 35 years of work at the University Hospital Center Zagreb (UHC-1986). As an invited lecturer he participated in more than 150 medical congresses around the world.
He is elected member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, consultant of the American Academy for Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, member of the European Society of Head and Neck Oncology, member of the European Society for Endocrine Surgery.
For the last 15 years, he started as the initiator and promoter of health tourism development in Croatia and the Adriatic region. He was also the founder and president of the Association for Medical Tourism Development in Croatia (2009-2014).
The Association organized a few International Conferences in health tourism, which put Croatia on the global map as a health tourism destination with big potential.
In 2008 he founded the private consulting company Medical Group LLC (now Bura Medical Group) specializing in health tourism projects development. Medical Group is involved in many infrastructural projects in healthcare in Croatia and the Adriatic region.
Dr. Bura was director of several International Medical Tourism Conferences in Croatia (2009-2020), also he lectures on international medical tourism conferences as invited speaker in Barcelona, London, Venice, Edirne, Prague, Antalya, Berlin, and other locations.
In 2017. he successfully started with the Adriatic Health, Sport and Tourism Investment Forum, and the Adriatic Health Tourism Strategical Platform (www.adriatichealth.com). Last year it was the fifth time, and as a result of that we “brought” and joined few developers with health tourism resort owners in Croatia.
From October 2014 to April 2016, he served as Deputy Minister of Health responsible for health tourism development in Croatia. He founded the Ministry’s special Department for Health tourism. It was a crucial moment because it was the first time the Croatian State administration was responsible for health tourism. After that, many things started, changes in law, the Action Plan of Health Tourism (2015), and clusters formation… All of that was with strong collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
